Dental Care for People With Diabetes: Extra Risks and Practical Tips

Diabetes sirf sugar levels ka game nahi; ye pure body ke blood vessels aur healing capacity ko affect karta hai—mouth included. Isliye diabetics ko dental care me thoda extra honest effort karna padta hai.

High sugar levels gums ki immunity ko weak karte hain, jisse gum infection (periodontitis) ka risk badhta hai. Signs: gums ka red, swollen hona, brushing pe bleeding, bad breath, teeth ka halka-halka hilna. Gum infection phir sugar control ko aur kharab kar sakta hai – ek vicious circle ban jata hai.

Kuch practical steps:

  • Din me 2 baar brushing + daily interdental cleaning ko optional habit mat samjho.
  • Smoking avoid karna aur bhi important ho jata hai.
  • Sugar control jitna stable, healing utni better. Dentist ko apne recent sugar reports aur medicines batao.

Dental treatment ke time pe, dentist kabhi-kabhi appointment timing meals/ insulin ke around plan karte hain, taaki hypo/hyperglycaemia avoid rahe. Large procedures ke baad infection se bachne ke liye extra precautions liye jaate hain.

Dry mouth, fungal infection (oral thrush) bhi diabetics me zyada dikh sakte hain. Agar mouth me burning, white patches, ya constant dryness lagti hai, ignore mat karo.

Simple formula: good sugar control + regular dentist visits = diabetes ke bawajood healthy mouth maintain karna possible hai.
